How To Maintain Luxury Vinyl Tiles(LVT) Flooring?
By: Viste
Maintaining Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) flooring is relatively easy and requires regular care to keep it looking its best.
LVT is known for its durability and resistance to water and stains, but it still benefits from routine cleaning and preventive measures to extend its lifespan. Here’s how to maintain LVT flooring:
1. Regular Sweeping or Vacuuming:
- To prevent the accumulation of dirt, dust, and debris, sweep or vacuum your LVT flooring regularly. Use a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Avoid using vacuums with beater bars, as they can scratch the surface.
2. Damp Mopping:
- Periodically mop your LVT flooring with a damp mop using a pH-neutral, LVT-approved floor cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or excessive water, as they can damage the flooring.
- Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning products, as different brands may have specific guidelines.
3. Spill Cleanup:
- Immediately clean up spills to prevent staining or damage. Use a soft cloth or paper towel to blot up the spill. If needed, use a damp cloth with a pH-neutral cleaner to remove any residue.
4. Prevent Scratches and Dents:
- Place doormats at entryways to trap dirt and debris before it reaches the LVT flooring.
- Use furniture pads or felt protectors under the legs of furniture to prevent scratches and dents.
- Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects across the floor, as this can cause damage.
5. Use Area Rugs or Mats:
- In high-traffic areas or areas prone to spills (such as the kitchen), consider using area rugs or mats to protect the LVT and make cleaning easier.
6. Control Sunlight Exposure:
- Excessive sunlight can cause fading or discoloration of LVT. Use window coverings or blinds to control sunlight exposure, or consider applying UV-protective films on windows.
7. Regular Maintenance for Matte or Satin Finish:
- For LVT with a matte or satin finish, you may need to apply a manufacturer-approved floor finish to maintain its appearance. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for application.
8. Check for Manufacturer Recommendations:
- Always refer to the manufacturer’s care and maintenance instructions specific to your LVT flooring product. Following these recommendations ensures that you won’t inadvertently damage the flooring or void any warranties.
9. Avoid Excess Moisture:
- While LVT is water-resistant, avoid excess moisture on the seams between planks or tiles. Ensure that seams are properly sealed during installation, and wipe up any standing water promptly.
By following these maintenance tips, you can keep your LVT flooring looking clean and well-maintained for years to come. Regular cleaning and preventive measures are key to preserving the appearance and longevity of your LVT flooring.
